Earthquakes in Japan

As the hardest one hit, I could see my Twitter timeline full of messages about the earthquake. I thought it was the usual kind, but my friends started updating with "This one is strong!" "It's big, it's big!"... then they updated about how the power went out, and soon the timeline slowed down dramatically. So many updates about how they are trying to reach people in the Miyagi area and some not getting any responses. As it went on, there were aftershocks, each about level 5... I stayed up until 2AM sharing the news, and went to bed.

Even now there was just an earthquake in Nagano about a 6, and Ibaraki and Chiba areas are talking about more shaking. There have been at least 25 aftershocks/earthquakes around that level since the big one hit. The tsunami hit miyagi prefecture pretty hard and one of the cities is completely destroyed. SEndai airport is flooded. It's been 14+ hours since the first quake and they're still getting aftershocks at that level

It's so scary seeing my friends write some crazy things. A few are joking around trying to cheer up but a few important ones are really bothered.

Of course Reitaisai is postponed for now. There's even talk that big Sight shows a few cracks

Some of them are still missing and I wonder if they're OK. Can't believe things are still shaking over there as I write this a bazillion hours later. The news only talks about the biggest one that happened

EDIT: Here's the map for the area. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Maps/10/140_35.php

EDIT: 24 hours later, they are still having chains of aftershocks per hour. California could never stand up to this kind of abuse.
